Berlin Senate Department for the Interior and Sports
The main task of the Senate Department for the Interior and Sports is the promotion of sport for all citizens. The objective is to further develop both amateur and recreational sports, and top-level and professional sports. This includes providing, maintaining and qualifying indoor and outdoor swimming pools and sports facilities, but also offering financial support and counseling for non-profit sports organizations. In order to raise Berlin's profile as a sports city, the city administration and sports organizations cooperate in the acquisition and hosting of internationally renowned sports events.
Berlin Partner GmbH is the central point of contact in Berlin helping investors settle in the city, assisting local companies in all matters relating to foreign trade, and promoting the capital as a business location. Together with local authorities and other service partners, it also offers individual corporate service packages to support growth in companies based in the region. The agency receives the majority of its funding from the private sector, and is commissioned by the Berlin Senate to develop and implement location marketing strategies and capital-city promotion. 169 prominent German and international private partner companies support Berlin Partner, and share a common interest in advertising the capital at the regional, national, and international level.
Berlin Tourismus Marketing GmbH (Berlin Tourism Board) is charged with the world-wide promotion of Berlin as a tourist destination. The company's mission is to promote tourism, business travel, events, trade fairs, conferences and congresses as well as to provide information for tourists and travelers to Berlin. It sees itself as a service agency for its tourism partners on the national and international markets and as an active information broker for the travel industry. Since 1993, the Berlin Tourismus Marketing GmbH has been carrying on professional tourism management for the aspiring metropolis of Berlin - with growing success.
The IHK Berlin is a mouthpiece for many companies, actively promoting Berlin as a place to do business. IHK Berlin acts in the best interests of the business community as a whole. The market-economy system forms the basis of all our activities. As a critical partner of political institutions, the IHK Berlin campaigns for entrepreneurial freedom with increased help from the state and acts as an impartial market advocate promoting fair competition among businesses. As a service provider, the IHK Berlin supports its approx. 230,000 members through its services and activities. Some 3500 voluntarily active businessmen and women in the plenary meeting, executive committee, boards and working parties as well as inspectors, assist the IHK‘s employees.
